Traversal raises $120M Series B co-led by Kleiner Perkins, Redpoint Ventures and Khosla Ventures, valuing the AI outage-fixing platform at $1B

On 3 November, New York-based Traversal announced a $120 million Series B at a $1 billion valuation. Kleiner Perkins, Redpoint Ventures and Khosla Ventures co-led the round, with Sequoia, Battery Ventures and Amex Ventures participating. The company has now raised $173 million in total.

What Traversal does

Traversal builds what it calls an AI site reliability engineer. Its software investigates production incidents, traces the cause through logs, metrics and code, and helps engineering teams fix outages faster. It sells to large enterprises whose systems are too complex for on-call engineers to debug by hand quickly.

Why the category is attracting money

Outages are expensive, and the amount of code running in production is growing as more of it is written with AI help. That combination is pushing companies to automate incident response rather than add more people to on-call rotations. A $1 billion valuation at Series B shows investors expect AI operations tools to become a standard line in enterprise engineering budgets.

What the raise means for vendors

The largest cost for a company like Traversal is people. Expect hiring across machine learning, infrastructure engineering, enterprise sales and customer engineering, which means spending on recruiting, onboarding and developer tooling.

Selling to large enterprises also brings security reviews and compliance certifications, so audit, security tooling and legal services are likely needs. The product depends on reading large volumes of telemetry, which points to model inference costs, cloud spend and partnerships with observability and data platforms. A larger customer base will need implementation partners and integrators as well.
